Do you want a refresh in life? Try traveling frequently

By Juanpablo Barrantes Leader’s approach (5 min read) One of my significant personal goals is to travel to those places I’ve yearned for some particular reasons, like visiting iconic or exciting places, collecting unique experiences and priceless memories, knowing about different cultures, even challenging myself from the very moment I start planning the trip until being there in every new location and I just relax, finding ways to break through while the trip happens. No matter my destination, the most relevant things while I travel are those that either challenge or teach me something I’m not used to. There’s a complete change in one’s routine while traveling, you may even forget the day or date you’re at, time may not matter at all whatsoever. So, for those who love traveling because it’s an inherent part of our life’s goals, let me share with you some personal insights, I mean those subtle details I’ve learned while traveling. - While traveling, I spend the whole day and probably the whole trip with those that I love and appreciate most. Companionship is a vital part for anyone in life, and maybe so is matching while traveling of such value because it’s in one’s nature to share with the people you appreciate most, any of those relevant places where significant moments occur. Sharing while traveling produces an unique feeling I don’t feel in any other instance. I think it’s the combination of great companionship plus being in a completely new place that you were expecting to visit for some time in your life. What follows is a collection of significant moments that fill up your being until they help you out in becoming into a better person, less or no stressed and more creative, even more skilled to reframe on those difficult situations you seldom face in life. - While traveling, I forget about my daily routine and I challenge myself to a completely different agenda. First, don’t get me wrong, I love my daily routine. I am really passionate about my role as a leader and the day to day challenges I face as a manager of a great workplace. However, I cannot deny sometimes the workload and the inherent demanding management responsibilities are just overwhelming. Time management becomes a real challenge when talking about how to make a fair balance between work and family. That’s why I diligently plan my vacation time to get the most out of it, from any of the logistic stuff to get there and move around from place to place, until being there and enjoying each location while making every moment memorable. My ability to make a new agenda when traveling helps me get into a more productive trip, but also it helps me completely forget about my working agenda. - While traveling, God’s companionship is more evident than usual. Again, companionship is a vital feeling for anyone in life. Now, imagine how great it is for a group of people in feeling God’s presence more evident than usual whenever they travel together. This is confirmed whenever I feel an immense appreciation for every experience lived, and mostly those new, unknown and sometimes challenging situations faced while traveling that I can surely refer to a God’s gentle push in my favor. It not only happens when traveling, but there’s something even more remarkable when such strong Presence gets evident in places that you are not familiar with. I think it’s a matter of faith, whenever you believe it and appreciate it, you will get the benefit from such mindset. Let me finalize my thoughts with an insightful quote I found precisely during my most recent trip... —Traveling is a brutality. It forces you to trust strangers and to lose sight of all that familiar comfort of home and friends. You are constantly off balance. Nothing is yours except the essential things: air, sleep, dreams, the sea, the sky... all things tending towards the eternal or what we imagine of it.— Cesare Pavese. www.jpbarrantes1973.wixsite.com/leadersapproach
